HAYLEY MCINTYRE
ARTIST, ILLUSTRATOR, DESIGNER
Originally from Calgary, Alberta, I am currently based out of Prince George, BC. I am a field geologist by trade, with most of my time spent outside whether for work or play. My background in science and a strong interest in geological and biological processes, time-scales, and materials greatly influence and inform the nature of my practice. A somewhat opposite interest in the psychology and darker corners of the human experience and mental health issues means my art practice lives in the intersection and relationships between the natural world, time scales, and systems and this human experience and finding patterns between the two.
My work ranges greatly in scale, medium, concept and nature. I love everything from large-scale found object installation work to small, detailed embroidery work to digital design and illustration. A common material thread and theme through my practice is an interest in upcycling, mixed mediums, and working with found or used materials along with finding new and interesting ways to add or change the functionality of a found object to bring it new life.
